John Cronan was named the acting Assistant Attorney General for the DOJ Criminal Division. Mr. Cronan replaces Ken Blanco, who was recently named Director of the U.S. Treasury Department Financial Crimes Enforcement Network ("FinCEN"). While Mr. Blanco will remain with the DOJ until December 8, 2017, he will serve the remainder of his tenure as Deputy Assistant Attorney General.
Mr. Cronan was appointed the Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General of the Criminal Division in August 2017. Previously, Mr. Cronan served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, and the Chief of the Terrorism and International Narcotics Unit at that office. Mr. Cronan will serve as Acting Assistant Attorney General until a permanent replacement is confirmed by the Senate.
