The Worcester District Medical Society published an article by
Peter Martin in the July/August 2017 edition of its quarterly
publication, Worcester Medicine.
As more and more states adopt medical marijuana laws, health care
providers are faced with dilemmas about how to comply at the same
time with different bodies of conflicting law, state and federal. A
recent pair of trial court decisions from Rhode Island and
Massachusetts displays two approaches to reconciling medical
marijuana and employment laws. The cases show that medical
marijuana statutes are only slowly and incompletely being
integrated into a consistent legal landscape that has direct
practical effects on practitioners as both providers and
businesses.
