The U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry ("Committee") voted to advance the nomination of J. Christopher Giancarlo to serve as CFTC Chair. On June 22, 2017, the Committee held a hearing to discuss Mr. Giancarlo's nomination.

Committee Chair Pat Roberts (R-KS) reaffirmed his support for Mr. Giancarlo and praised his testimony at the nomination hearing:

"As evidenced by his testimony at our recent hearing about his visits to numerous farms and livestock operations, Mr. Giancarlo demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to fostering a functional marketplace for all participants, and that most certainly includes folks in rural America."

Ranking Member Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) also supported Mr. Giancarlo's nomination, and commended his commitment to "work on a bipartisan basis to make important improvements."

Mr. Giancarlo's nomination will now be advanced to the Senate floor for a confirmation vote.
