The MSRB released a list of the "Strategic Goals" it intends to pursue for the foreseeable future. The goals include objectives related to the following:

  • properly utilizing guidance, clarifications, and other educational releases to support rule comprehension and compliance among member firms;
  • further developing the Electronic Municipal Market Access ("EMMA") website in order to improve market participants' access to relevant data, forms and other important regulatory tools;
  • using the MSRB's information and data to improve market transparency;
  • using its status as an independent self-regulatory organization to communicate with policymakers and provide helpful commentary on regulatory issues; and
  • diversifying its funding sources in order to promote its own financial sustainability.
