CHARLOTTE—On Tuesday, June 6, Womble Carlyle's International Arbitration Team organized an event for clients who are involved in international business transactions and may need assistance in drafting dispute resolution clauses in those contracts, and litigating those issues across the globe.

The program included a distinguished group of speakers, including keynote speaker Don Wallace, Jr.—Chairman, International Law Institute, Professor Emeritus and Adjunct Professor of Georgetown School of Law. Professor Wallace has been involved in international law and foreign affairs since 1955. He provided key insights on issues of foreign contract negotiation that will draw on over 60 years of experience of working and teaching in this realm.

In addition, there was an address by Phillip Aliker, a London Barrister with Tanfield Chambers, who provided an interesting discussion about the issues surrounding enforcement of Arbitral Awards in Europe in anticipation of Brexit. The event took place at the Ballantyne Resort in south Charlotte.

Kurt Lindquist and John Branson served as the lead attorneys. Other Womble Carlyle attorneys in attendance included Emily Doll, Russ Ferguson, Mark Henriques, Sterling Laney, Melinda Davis Lux, Dorinda Peacock and Claire Rauscher. Director of Client Service Stephanie Hinrichs and Senior Marketing Manager Ashley Laney provided client development support.
