Hollywood court room scenes do not resemble the cases that trial lawyers experience. Although storytelling is common during an opening statement, trial lawyers have limitations in the court room that Hollywood directors do not have. Sometimes lawyers focus heavily on the details and complexity of the case, that they forget the central narrative. Lawyers need to make sure that their story is clear and concise, important facts are mentioned and visual images are presented to help tell their story if needed. Lessons from Hollywood can make a difference if applied appropriately.
