In the November 21, 2016, Federal Register, FDA reopened the comment period for the notice, published in the Federal Register of September 9, 2016, announcing the availability of the draft guidance for industry titled "Substantiation for Structure/Function Claims Made in Infant Formula Labels and Labeling." The draft guidance, when finalized, will describe the type and quality of evidence that FDA recommends that infant formula manufacturers and distributors have to substantiate structure/function claims in infant formula labels and labeling.
