The CFTC granted a request by Chicago Mercantile Exchange Clearing Europe Limited ("CMECE") for registration as a derivatives clearing organization ("DCO") under the CEA. Subject to certain conditions, CMECE is authorized to: (i) provide clearing services for U.S. clearing members as well as their customers under CEA Section 5b; and (ii) provide these clearing services for swaps, as well as for futures and options on futures traded on, or subject to, the rules of a designated contract market.

The CFTC noted that sixteen DCOs are now registered with the CFTC, including seven that are based outside the United States.
