The SEC appointed Marc A. Panucci Deputy Chief Accountant in the Office of the Chief Accountant. Mr. Panucci will assist the SEC in its oversight of the activities of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board. In addition, Mr. Panucci will lead the activities of the Office's professional practice group. This responsibility includes (i) understanding investor and audit committee perspectives, and (ii) consulting with registrants and auditors on the application of internal control over financial reporting obligations, independence requirements, and auditing standards. Mr. Panucci, who worked at the SEC between 2007 and 2010, will replace Brian T. Croteau and is expected to start later this month.
