U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) announced it will be adjusting the fee schedule, raising the filing fees by an average of 21% in order to recover the full costs of the services provided and maintain adequate service. This includes all petitions and applications filed with USCIS. For example, all Form I-129 filings (e.g., for individuals in H-1B / L-1 / O-1 / etc. status), the basic filing fee will increase from $325 to $460. For the I-140 petition, which is typically filed after a PERM/labor certification application has been approved or for multinational executives and managers, the fee will go from $580 to $700. For the I-539 application, which is filed to extend or change the status of dependent spouses and children, the fee will go from $290 to $370. Employers and foreign nationals are encouraged to file any necessary petitions or applications prior to this date if possible.
