The House of Representatives has approved an amended version of S. 524, the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act, which contains a wide-ranging collection of proposals to fight opioid abuse. The proposals were approved by the House Energy and Commerce Committee in April 2016 and discussed in our earlier blog post. The Senate approved S. 524 in March 2016. Conferees from the House and Senate will now work to resolve differences between the two measures.
