On December 21, 2015, upon determining that a software company
was aware of significant security issues with its Java SE software
and that it failed to inform consumers that installing updates
would not remove the older vulnerabilities, the FTC required it to notify consumers and give
consumers the ability to uninstall unsecured versions of the
software. In addition to issuing consumer notice and appropriate
software removal mechanisms, the company is required to post broad
