Carolyn Richmond was quoted in The Buffalo News  article "Furor over higher fast-food wage." Full text can be found in the July 23, 2015, issue but a synopsis is below.

On Wednesday, fast food workers and their supporters celebrated after the New York Fast Food Wage Board voted to phase in a tiered $15 minimum hourly wage at national chain restaurants by July 1, 2021.

According to Carolyn Richmond, who represents restaurant owners, the decision could adversely affect the franchise business model in the state.

She said potential franchisees might "think twice before going into those types of businesses. And that's a shame because it is a great entry point for a lot of recent immigrants to this country and a lot of people do become business owners. The franchise model has worked for decades, and that might be less enticing to a lot of people starting their own business."
