On July 7, 2014, New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo signed the
"Compassionate Care Act," making New York the 23rd state
in the U.S. to legalize medical marijuana. The new law permits
certified patients to use marijuana for treatment of a
"serious condition" so long as the treatment is
prescribed by a certified physician. With the State Department of
Health expected to have the program up and running within the next
18 months, here are five things New York employers should consider
about the legalization of medical marijuana.
