A supplier of imaging technology for the electronics industry has entered a joint venture with a Japanese company to create the largest domestic supplier of photomasks in Taiwan serving the semiconductor industry.
Governance of the joint venture will be shared by the companies through a seven-member board of directors.
Paul Edelberg noted that business laws and cultures are often different, and there must be a clear understanding between the parties regarding the operation of the business.
"Deals like this are done all the time," he said. "It's clearly doable."
