Julian K. Petty was featured in the Examiner.com article, "Fox Rothschild's Julian Petty Protects Entertainment Royalty." While the full text can be found on Examiner.com, a synopsis is noted below.

Julian Petty is one half of Fox Rothschild's original entertainment department. He and his mentor, Darrell D. Miller, have evolved the firm's entertainment practice from a duo to 14 attorneys worldwide, representing a wide range of celebrity clients.

During a time where the entertainment landscape has diversified and more artists of color are at the center of multimillion-dollar deals, there is a demand for representation that compliments that diversity.

"The emergence of hip-hop has completely leveled the playing field," Petty explains. "At one time when we had Roc-A-Fella Records, Murder Inc. and Ruff Ryders Records, they were selling millions and millions of records, and they felt very comfortable having a high qualified black attorney."

Petty worked early in his career at various record labels, where he observed how poorly African-American artists were represented. This prompted him to start his journey to properly represent and protect first-generation African-Americans of wealth.

Petty's early legal experience gave him a platform to leverage his branding ideas for clients. His ability to create opportunities that otherwise may have been overlooked has allowed him to identify ways for his clients to make revenue outside of record sales.

In his current position at Fox Rothschild, Petty negotiates royalty and box office deals, intellectual property law, trade secrets and fashion law. Some may view this as the pinnacle in a successful entertainment law career, but Petty still has larger ambitions.

He sees a TV and film industry that still lacks diversity among the executives who green-light projects and who claim there is no demand for African-American films overseas. He questions the mentorship and accessibility of the current African-American studio executives to ascend decision making to take risks in domestic and international distribution. He predicts international distribution and business ventures will become the new trend and micro-niche marketing will open new doors for viewers and advertisers.
