U.S. Chapter On Global Guide To Free Speech And Fair Use In Trademarks

Janet Satterthwaite co-authored the U.S. section of a Global Guide to the Law of Trademarks and Free Speech/Fair Use. The Guide is a project of Marques, the European Trademark Owners' Association. Janet also served as the native English-language speaking Editor for the entire Guide. The final Guide will be presented to Marques at the Annual Meeting in Monaco later this month, where the team will also present a panel session on this topic.

Janet is a member of the IP Outer Borders Team, which identifies and examines emerging trends in Trademarks, and of the subteam studying Trademarks and Human Rights, which is putting out the Guide. She was previously leader of the subteam studying Trademarks and Social Media. The team, which meets three times a year and has monthly team calls and produces many projects and articles, consists of outside counsel and in-house trademark counsel from numerous countries.
