Steptoe antitrust partner Edward Schwartz authored an article titled "Toughened Oversight Raises Antitrust Hazards of Oil Industry Collaboration" for Oil & Gas Journal. In the article, published in the April issue of the magazine, Mr. Schwartz explores new and heightened enforcement efforts within the petroleum sector by the US Department of Justice's (DOJ) Antitrust Division and the Federal Trade Commission. Due to these stepped-up enforcement efforts, the oil and gas sector is receiving closer scrutiny from US antitrust enforcers than it has since the 1970s. Along with examining the enforcement efforts, Mr. Schwartz's article examines the types of risks producers, in particular, frequently face, and the steps that they should take to minimize their antitrust risk. Mr. Schwartz's article presents a practical and timely look at these issues.
