EPA announced it is extending the public comment period until May 13, 2013 for the agency’s proposed rule requiring 36 states, including Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio and Minnesota, to revise the startup, shutdown, and malfunction rules in their Clean Air Act State Implementation Plans (SIPs). In the Notice of Extension of Public Comment Period published on April 8, 2013, EPA stated it received numerous comments from industry groups, industry trade associations, and state and local air permitting agencies requesting a further extension of time “because the proposal is complex and far-reaching, with unique state specific issues.”
