Julia Swain, partner in the family law practice at Fox Rothschild LLP, recently sat down with CBS Philly’s Pat Ciarrocchi to set the record straight on divorce myths in Pennsylvania.

The discussion covered such items as the splitting of assets in a divorce, the myth that mothers receive an advantage in custody cases, Pennsylvania’s view of alimony, out-of-court settlements and statistics regarding divorce rates. The clip can be seen here.

To further alert individuals on divorce myths, Swain has developed a guide on the “Top 10 Divorce Myths in Pennsylvania,” which breaks down and explains each myth.

In her practice, Swain represents clients in all aspects of family law including divorce, custody, support, equitable distribution and abuse. She litigates family law cases in the five-county Philadelphia area, including appellate courts and negotiates settlements and prenuptial agreements.

Swain is the 2013 Co-Chair of the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Bench-Bar Committee, the 2011 Chair of the Family Law Section and Associate Editor of the Philadelphia Bar Reporter. Swain was the 2007 through 2011 recipient of the Pro Bono Roll of Honor award from the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania, recognizing her pro bono work as exemplary. In 2009, she was the recipient of the White Hat Award from the Legal Clinic for the Disabled for her outstanding volunteer work.
