Today, the City of Philadelphia's Office of Property Assessment (OPA) is expected to release Tax Year 2014 proposed market values pursuant to the City’s “Actual Value Initiative.” These notices are expected to be posted online on February 15, 2013 at www.phila.gov and will be mailed to Taxpayers. Property Owners who believe that the new values are incorrect or fail to reflect the fair market value of their property, may challenge the City's valuation. There will be an opportunity for an initial/informal review with the OPA assessors. The notices will include information regarding the procedure to request a review. The deadline for filing a request for informal review is March 31, 2013. In addition, Property Owners will have the right to challenge these values by filing a formal appeal to the Board of Revision of Taxes no later than Monday, October 7, 2013. Property Owners should carefully review the 2014 values to determine accuracy.
