President Obama has announced he will nominate White House Chief of Staff Jack Lew to become the next Treasury secretary.

If confirmed, Lew would replace outgoing Secretary Timothy Geithner, who served Obama’s entire first term after being confirmed Jan. 29, 2009. Lew was the administration’s director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) from 2010 until early 2012 before taking over as chief of staff. He was also the OMB director under former President Bill Clinton from 1998 to 2000.
