Each year, Katten publishes a Pro Bono Annual Review summarizing our firm's incredible community service efforts from the past year. This year, the Pro Bono Annual Review covers the many ways the firm is building stronger connections in a disconnected world.

Pro bono and volunteerism is ingrained in our culture, with attorneys in offices and practices across our firm demonstrating that commitment. Through individual and collective efforts, Katten has joined to fight back against a rise in anti-Asian hate crimes, pooled resources to support immigrants seeking asylum and worked to identify ways to implement needed police reform to root out abuses of power.

During the same period, Katten responded quickly to the needs of businesses and small nonprofits that continue to struggle to adapt and serve their less fortunate constituencies during the pandemic. The attorneys and business professionals who raised their hands and used their legal skills to help those in need continually inspire us.

Our director of pro bono services, Jonathan Baum, writes, "We celebrate connecting vulnerable individuals to essential services. We celebrate connecting wronged persons to justice. We celebrate connecting families in flight to security and freedom. And we celebrate that in pursuing our pro bono work as we strengthen our connections with our institutional clients who join us in this work and with our Katten colleagues doing so across multiple offices."
