On Wednesday, January 2, 2013 President Obama signed into law the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012. The Act was passed by Congress on January 1, 2013, one day after the Bush tax cuts expired, and more than a year after many other temporary tax provisions (such as the AMT fix) expired.

ATRA 2012 makes significant changes to income taxes, estate, gift and generation skipping taxes, corporate income taxes, and excise taxes, as well as changes to some non-tax provisions of law.
