Four years since their original filings, wage-suppression class action lawsuits on behalf of registered nurses in Illinois, Michigan, New York, Tennessee and Texas are now the subject of key decisions by the courts. While the plaintiffs—and the testimony of new economists brought into the cases—have yet to convince any court to certify a class of registered nurses, and rulings relevant to the merits of the cases have generally been in favor of the defendants, hospitals, health care providers and other employers of registered nurses should continue to pay careful attention to additional, pending decisions.
