The SEC recently announced regulatory relief for publicly traded companies, investment companies and others impacted by Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria. Specifically, the SEC issued an order providing conditional exemptions to federal securities laws for periods following the hurricanes and adopted interim temporary rules to extend filing deadlines for certain reports and forms that must be filed pursuant to Regulation A and Regulation Crowdfunding. Generally, the SEC's order and temporary rules extend filing deadlines to October 10, 2017, October 19, 2017 and November 2, 2017 for filers affected by Hurricane Harvey, Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria, respectively. The SEC acknowledged that certain companies and others affected by the storms may require additional or modified assistance in efforts to comply with federal securities laws and indicated that the SEC would address such situations and disclosure-related issues on a case-by-case basis.
