On October 23, the UK government announced it would adopt legislation under
which firm directors can each be fined up to £500,000 by the
ICO if they are found to be in breach of the Privacy and Electronic
Communications Regulations. Prior to this announcement, only
businesses were liable for fines for violations of these
regulations.
