It has been confirmed that distress will be abolished and replaced with a statutory procedure for the collection of commercial rent arrears.

Royal assent has been given to the Tribunal Courts and Enforcement Bill and the Act will come into force at a later date, yet to be announced. Regulations dealing with the commencement date and the minimum level of rent capable of collection etc are awaited.
