The Cultural Test (Television Programmes) (Amendment) Regulations 2015 (SI 2015/1449) came into force on 23 July 2015. The effect of these Regulations is that the cultural test for drama and documentary television programmes has been updated. For example more points will be awarded if the programme's dialogue is in English, or where the programme's principal photography and effects are carried out in the United Kingdom. A programme must obtain 18 points out of a possible 35 to pass the cultural test threshold. Based on the above, a new points-based test for children's televisions programmes has also been introduced.
