The Scottish Government today announced that a fourth round of funding for youth projects under the CashBack for Communities scheme is now open, with a funding pot of £2.5m, split across all local authority areas.

Grants up to a maximum of £30,000 will be made available under the scheme - which is being administered by YouthLink Scotland, the National Agency for Youth Work - and youth charities throughout Scotland have been invited to make applications for a share of the funding.

Details of the breakdown of available funds by local authority area can be accessed at this link: http://www.scotland.gov.uk/News/Releases/2010/07/15114930

Funding will be allocated as follows:

  • 80% on projects aimed at 10-19 year olds;
  • 10% on projects aimed at income support claimants;
  • 10% on projects aimed at rural areas.

The Scottish Government's CashBack for Communities scheme is funded from the proceeds of crime. The ill-gotten gains of serious organised criminals are taken from them and reinvested in communities to make a difference to the lives of young people throughout Scotland. To date £19.5m has been invested in a range of free activities for young people. This latest funding comes from monies recovered earlier this year from a Russian money launderer who had dealings in Scotland.
