Abstract
In the 2000s, Turkey embarked on a liberalisation process in
the energy sector and identified natural gas imports as one of the
key areas within this process. However, as of 2017, the targeted
level of liberalisation projected for natural gas imports to Turkey
has not been realised, mainly due to political, technical,
commercial and legal reasons. This article focuses on one of these
obstacles, namely the shortcomings of Turkish legislation that have
prevented the liberalisation process to be implemented to its
intended extent.
