Following our Alert on 5 April 2021, the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within Infected Local Areas) (Movement Control) (No. 4) (Amendment) (No. 6) Regulations 2021 ('MCO No. 4 Amendment No. 6 Regulations') and the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within Infected Local Areas) (Recovery Movement Control) (No. 3) (Amendment) (No. 8) Regulations 2021 ('RMCO No. 3 Amendment No. 8 Regulations') were gazetted on 5 April 2021 and came into force on the same day.

MCO No. 4 Amendment No. 6 Regulations

The MCO No. 4 Amendment No. 6 Regulations extend the effective period of the movement control order for the district of Keningau, Sabah from 5 April 2021 to 18 April 2021. The effective period of the movement control order for the district of Tawau, Sabah remains the same, i.e. from 3 April 2021 to 16 April 2021.

The districts of Keningau and Tawau in Sabah are the only two areas in Malaysia that are subjected to a movement control order.

RMCO No. 3 Amendment No. 8 Regulations

The RMCO No. 3 Amendment No. 8 Regulations rectify an omission in the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within Infected Local Areas) (Recovery Movement Control) (No. 3) (Amendment) (No. 7) Regulations 2021 to make it clear that the duration of the recovery movement control order for the State of Sabah (except for the districts of Keningau and Tawau) is from 1 April 2021 to 14 April 2021.

Comments

The districts of Keningau and Tawau have been placed under a movement control order due to the recent spike in local recorded Covid-19 cases. We hope that the Covid-19 situation in Keningau and Tawau will improve in the near future.
