Post-Brexit sanctions response paper published
On 2 August 2017, the UK government published its response to the consultation on the UK's future legal framework for imposing and implementing sanctions. The response paper sets out proposals as to how the UK intends to impose and implement sanctions in order to comply with obligations under the UN Charter, which are currently established under the European Communities Act 1972. UK government publishes Brexit policy papers
In August 2017, the UK government published a number of policy papers setting out its proposals for a future relationship with the EU in specific areas, including.
- a policy paper on future customs arrangements. The paper sets out the government's priorities in negotiating a new customs relationship with the EU. Jersey's government welcomed the policy paper in its own press release;
- a policy paper on the preservation of a common travel area following Brexit. Jersey's government welcomed the policy paper in its own press release;
- a policy paper on cross-border civil judicial cooperation framework;
- a policy paper on the future of enforcement and dispute resolution action between the UK and the EU;
- a policy paper on the exchange and protection of personal data, highlighting the importance of data flows between the EU and the UK;
- a policy paper on confidentiality and access to documents, relating to information obtained by the UK and EU during the UK's membership of the EU;
- a policy paper on the continuity and availability of goods in the UK and EU markets following Brexit. Jersey's government welcomed the policy paper in its own press release.

On 7 August 2017, Robin Walker MP, the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Exiting the EU travelled to Jersey to meet with the government of Jersey. The visit also included discussions with Jersey Finance members. A press release is available.
