Irrespective of resulting economic and geo-political ripples, however, we continued to see a steady stream of merger notifications to the Irish Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) during the last year. Although there were no in-depth Phase II investigations, we believe 2017 should be appropriately characterised as a year which demonstrated a more interventionist approach by the CCPC.
