Ogier partner Christopher Jones is attending Europe's biggest aircraft industry event next week along with Guernsey Aircraft Registry operators SGI – and he says that he expects significant interest in the registry's increasingly established offering.

Christopher, a partner in Ogier's Guernsey banking and finance team who specialises in all aspects of aircraft finance, security and registration, says that he expects that the twin factors of the growth in "air taxi" type services and the fact that the registry can now offer Air Operator Certificates to register aircraft carrying paying passengers should make the event a success.

The event in Geneva is expected to draw more than 13,000 visitors over three days, with more than 500 exhibitors and static displays of at least 60 aircraft.

Christopher said: "As the Guernsey offering becomes increasingly sophisticated and established, we expect it to compete alongside the offshore registries in Cayman and the Isle of Man.

"Events such as EBACE which place the Guernsey option in front of the widest possible audience are a key step in putting Guernsey on the aviation industry's map, and the interest in air taxi services, the AOC offering and the off-lease provision all suggest that this is an area that can be expected to grow."
