Guernsey's insurance sector once again showed its expertise in picking up five of the top prizes at the UK Captive Services Awards.

The awards, now in their fifth year, are hosted by Captive Review and recognise and reward captive insurance service providers that have demonstrated exceptional customer service and innovative product development over the past 12 months.

BDO Guernsey and BWCI both scooped awards, while the Guernsey offices of Aon and Willis Towers Watson played key roles in success for their overall firms.

BDO were named accounting specialist of the year. Audit Director Nathan Hodder and Senior Manager Nick Le Hurray attended the ceremony to accept the award on behalf of the accounting, tax and advisory firm that provides a bespoke service programme to insurance clients in Guernsey.

"It's a real honour for our team at BDO to have received this endorsement for the services we provide to Guernsey's insurance industry and to have stood out so strongly among UK-wide service providers," said Mr Hodder. "This result is down to our team of specialist professionals at BDO and to our valued clients who choose to appoint us."

Managing Director Richard Searle added: "This is a fantastic endorsement of our decision to tailor our professional expertise in audit, accounting, advisory and tax to the particular business models of those who work in this industry. This has encouraged existing clients to retain our services and new clients to come to BDO."

BWCI was named best actuarial firm for the fifth successive year.

Partner Ian Morris said: "Winning this award consistently over a period of five years recognises our sustained commitment to the provision of high quality good value actuarial services to captives. Our success is a tribute to the consistent hard work of our specialist team in Guernsey. Our team have shown skill and enthusiasm to meet the technical requirements and deadlines set by our clients."

Aon's White Rock Group earned the cell company initiative gong, while Aon and Willis Towers Watson's Guernsey offices were key contributors in their respective groups' success in the captive manager of the year and the most innovative firm of the year categories respectively.

The UK Captive Services Awards 2017 took place in London on Thursday 9 February.
