Both senior executives of the Commission's Insurance Division - Steve Butterworth and John Darwood - have helped form and manage the International Association of Insurance Supervisors that now has over 80 member countries.
Steve is the offshore centres' representative on the IAIS Executive Committee. He is also chairman of its Fraud Committee and a member of its Education, Technical Issues and Emerging Markets committees. John provided secretarial services for IAIS in its formative years through his office at the NAIC, Kansas City, USA.
Steve has also been a prime mover in setting up the Group of Cross Border Insurance Supervisors and both he and John are founder supporters of the International Association of Insurance Fraud Agencies, currently chaired by Peter de Vos, Office de Controle d'Assurance, Belgium.
