On September 26, the Bavarian Administrative Court decided that a social media company's
custom audience feature for targeted advertising violated
applicable data protection law in the absence of consent from
social media users (source document in German). The Bavarian
Administrative Court confirmed in its decision an order of the
Bavarian Data Protection Authority ("BayLDA") prohibiting
a Bavarian online shop from using the custom audience feature
