On 11 June 2009 the Ukrainian Parliament reinstated unemployment benefits to those employees whose employment was terminated by mutual consent with their employer.

This follows a Decision of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine which ruled that amendments to the Law "On Mandatory State Unemployment Insurance" eliminating such benefits were unconstitutional.

This will lead to full reinstatement of the previous rights of affected ex-employees, making them fully eligible to claim unemployment benefits on a general basis - starting from the eighth day from their registration with the State Employment Service.

Law: Law of Ukraine No. 1505-VI "Amending the Law of Ukraine "On Mandatory State Unemployment Insurance"" dated 11 June 2009; Decision of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine No.9-рп/2009 dated 28 April 2009
