Within the framework of the State Grants Scheme for the year 2017 and as a result of the general framework of Eco-Management and Audit Scheme, the Cyprus Government announced a program of financial support to the organizations which will implement an Environmental Management System (EMAS). The Ministry responsible for the management and support of this particular project is the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment.

The Scheme is aimed at all organizations the existence and actions of which can adversely impact the environment and which through targeted actions and implementation of an EMAS attempt to introduce functional changes in order to lessen the environmental burden.

The organizations that will be engaged with the process will benefit from the program's financial support and performance evaluation. However, each organization will be responsible to identify its own System of new functions and procedures that will deliver the expected environmental improvements. Financial assistance covers a 70% subsidization for the installation of the System with a maximum of €2.000. In addition €500 is given for system verification costs as well as €500 for transition costs from ISO 14001 to EMAS.

Those interested in participating in the Scheme, should be aware that the application deadline in the EMAS Register is 10th November, 2017.
