Maria Kyriacou, head of our firm's Nicosia office, will be one of a distinguished line-up of speakers at a conference titled "Russia and Cyprus: lessons from the crisis and the prospects for cooperation" to be held in Moscow later this month. The conference, organised by Vedomosti, a leading Russian language business daily newspaper jointly owned and operated by the publishers of the Financial Times, the Wall Street Journal and the largest Russian publishing house, will take place on 27 April at the InterContinental Moscow Tverskaya. 

The conference will examine Cyprus's success in overcoming the 2013 crisis and returning to growth, and explore the potential for further cooperation with Russia, including investment and trade in such industries as: energy, finance, freight transportation, real estate, and tourism. 

Maria will be speaking about the legal protections and benefits available for foreign investors in Cyprus via the general legal infrastructure, the constitution, under the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency regime and the bilateral agreement between the two countries, and the Cyprus tax system and double tax agreement.
