In addition to the extension of work permits, an ongoing review on immigration will:
- reduce the turn-around on work applications to two-weeks
- introduce a system to provide approval-in-principle in advance of overseas advertising for and recruiting of senior and top-management personnel
- abolish the need for some categories of workers to take a mandatory six-month break in residency.
These refinements are part of the Cayman Islands Government's strong commitment to foster and maintain a favourable and stable business climate conducive to inward investment.

Note to Editors:
Work permits are only issued in cases where suitably trained and experienced Caymanians are not available and are tied to a careful monitoring system of training and education programmes at the workplace to ensure the appropriate progression of qualified Caymanians.
