June 8, 2018 – International students from select Asian countries can get access to fast Study Permit processing under the new Student Direct Stream.
Canada's immigration department says the new stream is for applicants from China, India, Vietnam and the Philippines. It may also be extended to applicants from Kenya and Senegal in due course.
Candidates must demonstrate the financial resources and language skills needed to succeed in Canadian education to access the stream.
Under the SDS, candidates must demonstrate moderate language skills, pay their first year of tuition up front and purchase a $10,000 Guaranteed Investment Certificate.
