The Department of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invited 500 applicants who applied under the Federal Skilled Trades (FST) program with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 288 to apply for Canadian permanent residence. IRCC also invited 200 applicants who applied under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) with a CRS score of 902 to apply for permanent residence.
This was the third program specific draw for FST and PNP candidates which limited invitations to only candidates in the pool meeting the FST and PNP program criteria. The higher CRS score for the PNP reflects the 600 point value for a provincial nomination. The lower CRS score for the FST program considers the lower human capital points for those candidates.
IRCC's ability to conduct program-specific draws takes out a defined set of candidates out of the pool. It allows FST candidates to be invited to apply where their CRS scores otherwise may not have met the threshold taking into account their human capital factors compared with the overall composition of the pool. Inviting the 200 PNP applicants to apply in this program specific draw takes out a portion of highly ranked candidates which may change the CRS cut off threshold for the next round of invitations.
