June 28, 2017 – The Ontario immigration office has announced it is dropping its minimum Canada Express Entry score requirement specifically for skilled and experienced Information and Communications Technology (ICT) workers. These occupations include without limitation (NOC 2171 – Information Systems Analysts and Consultants, NOC 0213 – Computer and Information System Managers).
For the week commencing June 26, 2017 only, ICT candidates who meet all other requirements under the Human Capital Priorities Stream, and who also have work experience, are exempt from the need to score at least 400 Comprehensive Ranking System points.
For all other occupations, the minimum score of 400 remains in place.
An Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program statement says the move to initiate week-long exemptions for certain occupations is a strategy to "identify more candidates with experience in some of Ontario's priority sectors and in demand occupations".
Candidates still need to meet all other requirements for the Human Capital Priorities stream. Ontario immigration wants potential Human Capital Priorities Stream candidates to create new Express Entry profiles to make them easier to spot.
