February 8, 2017- With the enforcement of the Electronic Travel
Authorization ("eTA"), passengers continue to experience
problems when trying to board their flights. The eTA is required
for all visa-exempt foreign nationals (except American citizens)
that are flying or transiting through Canada. Affected travelers
who are already authorized to work or study in Canada are
encouraged to apply for an eTA prior to boarding their flight back
to Canada.
We strongly recommend that travelers apply for an eTA at least 72
hours before flying to or through Canada. An eTA is valid for five
years or until the traveler's passport expires, whichever comes
first.
