December 7th, 2016 – Today Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced a plan to drastically reduce the processing time for sponsoring spouses, partners and dependent children. Minister McCallum stated that, moving forward, Family Class processing times for all applications, inside and outside of Canada will be 12 months.

Reminder: Parent and Grandparent Sponsorship Program Re-Opening January 3, 2017- Get Your Applications Prepared Early
The Parent and Grandparent Sponsorship Program will reopen on January 3, 2017. Last year, the program cap of 10,000 applications was met shortly after reopening on January 4, 2016 and many applications were returned once the cap was met. This very popular program permits Canadian citizens and permanent residents to sponsor parents or grandparents to immigrate to Canada as permanent residents.
