As part of the Labor and Employment Law Section proceedings at this week's 2016 American Bar Association Annual Meeting in San Francisco, CA, U.S. Practice Director, Jonathan Grode will be presenting the work entitled, "Civil Labor Enforcement, Private Claims and Supply Chain Accountability: What You Can Do To Help Fight Human Trafficking."
Jonathan will serve as the moderator for four speakers, who will discuss the responsibility of employers and labor enforcement agents in the fight against human trafficking throughout the world. Specifically, Jonathan and the other speakers will discuss the importance of providing compensation to victims of forced labor through civil litigation, along with management tactics for companies in order to prevent or eradicate human trafficking in their global supply chains. The most recent federal regulations against human trafficking in the private sector will also be explained.
The presentation correlates with the launch of Green and Spiegel's International Supply Chain Initiative, which will formally assist companies with putting into practice many of the systems and procedures that the presentation will discuss. Two of the speakers at the event, Laurel Bellows of Bellows Law Group, PC, and Christopher Johnson, Jr. of the Center for Justice, Rights & Dignity will join Jonathan in the management of the initiative, which positions legal practitioners as advocates and facilitators of the fight against global human trafficking and forced labor.
