On May 26, 2016 the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada ("IIROC") announced a three year strategic plan. The strategic plan is the result of a year-long consultation designed to "identify important rends impacting the investment industry and to better understand and address the diverse needs of all [IIROC's] stakeholders" and will provide guidance in IIROC's mission of protecting investors and supporting the health of capital markets in Canada. The strategic plan is guided by IIROC's vision of its role in the regulation of capital markets and includes a five-point Vision, and nine strategies to achieve the Mission and Vision. The nine strategies consist of: market supervision, conduct and prudential supervision, enforcement, policy development, information sharing, value delivery within the Canadian regulatory system, investor awareness, technology capabilities, people and organizational culture. IIROC further undertook to publish its most important priorities on an annual basis.
