Effective May 9, 2016, the Ontario government has paused the
intake of all new applications for high-volume Ontario Immigrant
Nominee Program ("OINP") streams as it has met its 2016
federal allocation. All applications for the Employer
Pre-screen and International Students (Masters Graduate and PhD
Graduate) streams sent after 5 p.m. EDT on May 9, 2016 will not be
processed and will be returned to the applicant along with the
unprocessed payment.
The OINP will, however, continue to accept applications from
foreign workers and international students whose job offers have
already been approved through the Employer Pre-screen application
process. These applicants will have 60 days from the date of
the Employer Pre-screen approval letter to apply to either of these
stream.
The OINP will also continue to accept and process applications for the French-Speaking Skilled Worker stream, Corporate stream and Entrepreneur stream.
The OINP is an immigration program that supports Ontario employers by facilitating the immigration of managerial, professional and skilled foreign workers and international students needed to meet their human resource needs. This is helpful where employers are having difficulty finding the skilled workers they need. This program enables the province of Ontario to nominate people for permanent resident status.
